I have received a massive land tax bill on a commercial property i own in my own name, approx 25% increase on my account last year. I am basically aware they are committing fraud, but have no idea how to defend myself in court against their corrupt system, i do not have any training in this field.

ok, well firstly here is what is actually taking place.

  1. When you purchased the property you engaged a lawyer.
  2. That lawyer signed a document on your behalf agreeing to have your property registered with a corporate organization.
  3. He paid them a fee for registering your details and agreed that you would comply with all the rules and regulations of their registry. It was called something like “the sale of land act 1986 or some similar” bullshit”.
  4. Since then you have been on their registry and must comply with their rules, which basically means you get nothing from them but have to pay them money regardless.

In short, your lawyer worked for them not you and buried you… that’s the plain and simple truth. Now what to do.

Well, you need to extract yourself from their registry. The best way to do that is to write to them asking for your registration to be cancelled as you don’t wish to continue being registered to them. From that point on you won’t have a contract with them. You could also sue your lawyer for failing to advise you but he will probably defend himself by saying that you indemnified him from prosecution in the authority you signed appointing him. So you see, it’s a neat stitch up but on a positive note, you can extract yourself going forward.
